Welcome to a new installment of The Situation Room, where we challenge you to step into the shoes of a leader facing a real-world conundrum.
Leadership isn’t about having all the answers—it’s about navigating complexity, balancing competing priorities, and making difficult decisions under pressure.
💡 Your challenge: Consider the situation, weigh the options, and decide: What would you do?
🌎 Setting the Scene for Leading Unmotivated Teams Through Strategic Change
NovaLink Studios is a mid-sized digital media and product innovation company in Austin, Texas.
Known for agile teams, creative problem-solvers, and a Gen Z–heavy workforce, NovaLink built its reputation designing digital tools for nonprofits, startups, and social-impact organizations.
Its vibrant, mission-driven culture has always been one of the company’s greatest strengths.
Now, the company is pivoting. Competitive pressures are driving a shift from small-scale impact projects to a scalable SaaS platform called ImpactOS—a dashboard helping community organizations manage volunteers, track outcomes, and coordinate resources.
“For leadership, the pivot is obvious: scale, revenue, influence. For Maya’s team… it feels like a betrayal of everything they joined the company to do.”
